Managing our research performance
We manage our research activities and outputs through an evolving set of Divisions and Institutes, and a planned set of associated Research Centres; we manage research postgraduate and post-doctorate activities through a specialised Graduate Centre.

- Accounting & FinanceRanked 1st (equal) in Scotland and 5th in the UK, with virtually all (90%) research activity considered to be of international standing (2008 Research Assessment Exercise).
- Institute for Retail StudiesThe Institute is involved in a variety of different research activities and conducts research for a wide variety of public and private sector bodies.
- Research Centre for Consumers, Cultures and SocietySpecialises in bringing the experiences of consumers (and those driving the market) to wider audiences through the evolving character and social structure of the 'consumer society'.
- Stirling Institute for Socio-ManagementConcerned with public interest, including socio-economic development and corporate responsibility. Research also advises Scottish and UK government on surveillance, tobacco and alcohol marketing

- Institute for Social MarketingConcerned with the impact of public policy on health and social welfare and the effects of commercial marketing on health and behaviour.
- EconomicsMaintain an international research reputation with 15% of our research being rated as world-leading and a further 45% as internationally excellent (2008 Research Assessment Exercise).
- Stirling Institute for People-Centered Healthcare ManagementCross disciplinary Institute bringing together clinical, corporate, economic and community perspectives for critical inquiry.
Managing our teaching performance
Divisions and Institutes lead and operate programmes corresponding to their particular research focus; the Management Education Centre leads and operates cross-cutting programmes, stimulates exploration of teaching methods and techniques, and overviews all School programmes as regards quality, student experience, enhancement and internationalisation.
