Creative Space Project
Creative engagement, Critical action
Creative Space and Socio-Economic Development is a new initiative by the Stirling Management School, in partnership with the Art Collection at the University of Stirling, Forth Valley College, and the macrobert. The project has the broad aim of focusing on the relationship between art and people’s engagement, and how this contributes to individual wellbeing. We suggest that people’s openness and access to artistic activities, for example visual and performing arts, lead to the stimulation and expression of creativity and critical thinking and may in turn be conducive to wider participation in societies and economies.
We therefore advocate public initiatives to stimulate and nurture people’s imagination, providing creative space - a forum for expression and interaction. Creative Space brings people together to shape and seize opportunities for thought and analysis, for sharing opinions and arguments, and for increasing the diversity of ideas and perspectives, leading to mutually beneficial, respectful and exciting ways forward.
A critical part of the project is the undertaking of a range of new research and learning initiatives focused on the impact of creativity, imagination and critical thinking on local socio-economic development.
