Dr Doris Ruth Eikhof

Doris worked as a lecturer and PhD researcher at the University of Hamburg, Germany, from 2001-2006 and held an EU Marie Curie Research Fellowship at the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien for 2005. Her PhD research has been awarded the prestigious Deutscher Studienpreis 2005 for doctoral research in Germany. Doris has taught HRM, sociology of work and organisation studies across a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate and CPD programmes in Europe, particularly in the UK and Germany. Before becoming an academic Doris worked as an HR officer with a ThyssenKrupp engineering company in Germany.Research Interests
Doris Ruth Eikhof's research focuses on creative work and enterprise, social theories in organisation studies, work life-boundaries and women’s work. Current and recent work includes contract research for Creative Scotland and SKS Scotland’s Work4ME project; skills and business development projects with Stirling Council, Stills Gallery and Mugdock Makkers Gallery and a Knowledge Transfer Project with macrobert arts centre.
Doris has published in international and German books and journals, including Journal of Organizational Behavior and Employee Relations. She is co-editor of 'Work less, live more? Critical Analyses of the Work-Life Relationship' (Palgrave 2008), of ‘Creating balance? International Perspectives on the Work-Life Integration of Professionals’ (Springer 2011) and of an Employee Relations special issue on work-life balance (2007, Vol. 29:4). She has co-convened several conference streams at EGOS, International Labour Process Conference and AIRAANZ and is a regular speaker at academic and industry events in the UK and internationally.
